I would firstly suggest going back to your job centre and putting your questions in writing. They are civil servants and their job is to help.

You will be entitled to a student loan the same as every other student. I am afraid there are no student grants anymore unless you can get some sort of bursary (unlikely)

You will only get tax credits if you are paying tax. Will your part time job pay enough for you to pay tax?

Can't help about housing benefit sorry.

You will get some sort of financial support eg adult learning grant or bursary.

You need to make an appointment with a claims officer at the Job Centre. I've been told totally incorrect information by the people 'on the desk'.

Grants have been reintroduced but not for FE and as a trainee nurse you will get an NHS bursay instead, which is better because you get more money.

I think generally if you have a child and no level 2 or 3 qualifications you will be able to claim income support and housing benefit. But the claims officer is the one who can give you a definite answer.

When I was a student nurse (many years ago) I was declined benefits but that was because you get a bursery whilst doing the degree. Im not sure about what happens when your doing the access course however. I dont think you will get much help in the way of funds but call up the DSS to find out.
