Unhappy Debt Advice

Sorry if i have posted this in the wrong forum.

Im looking for advice really, im curently unemployed and i cannot afford to make my catalogue payments (Littlewoods) they have passed my debt onto Nationwide Debt Recovery (NDR) i owe just under £1000 i cannot afford to pay this i recieved a letter this morning from NDR asking for a payment of £696.89 which i cannot afford. in addition to owing them this money every time they send a letter they are adding £24 on to the debt, i don't know what to do there is no chance of me paying. So the debt is just going to keep building up, i offered them £1 a month, which i have payed by postal order for the last 3 months, they said that is fine but they havnt stopped the additional charge of £24 a month so paying £1 is not doing much.

Any advice will be much apreciated thanks.

Steven

Hi Steven, only pay Littlewoods what you can afford. Keep all correspondence to post only and request Littlewoods agree to the same and please give the Consumer Credit Counselling Service a ring - they are a free debt advisory service who will give you practical help. Hope this helps, please let me know how you get on and above stop worrying - the whole country has debt!

A friend of a friend was in this position and they went to the citizens advice bureau to seek advice. The information that they got from there lead them to a debt advisor where they were able to develop a repayment plan but as well look at maybe consolidating debt or IVA - I think this definitely worth a look into.

Hello..
I think you should go for the debt consolidation. It will help you in getting rid of the debt problems. There are so many companies available worldwide which help you in getting out of the situation and your problems will also get solved.

I think the best course of action here will be to write to NDR and
outline what you want and clearly state what your current financial
situation is with evidence to support it, once done you should to Phone up
and talk about it with NDR and if NDR keep adding charges for letters you
could report them to trading standards, The OFT and the financial ombudsman.

Other options include turning to a proffesinal company such as a debt management company. However as it is just the one debt which is relatively small it may not be the best route for you.

Debt consolidation and debt consolidation loans, often in the form of a bank card loan merging can offer extremely worthwhile debts solutions for anyone who's experiencing debts problems on a number of different methodologies. They can be especially beneficial if you want to avoid bankruptcy.
