Default Halifax overdfaft - expired

Hi everyone
Halifax have just confirmed my 9k overdraft will end on dec 21st, in short need to know how to deal with them as I have never been in debt before and have loan with them that I pay every month with no defaults etc, I simply can't afford to pay them the full amount on demand, in readiness for the" switch off " on the 21st I have just swapped my salary payments and associated direct debits into my barclays account going forward, I can only afford to pay them around £100 per month(currently pay them £60 per month in overdraft fees) should I write to them and explain? I can pay an extra lump sum £1500 in march 2012 towards the debt, can they take my house?! Please help me with next steps! Thanks
