Default Small Business Debt Collection

I have 2 customers that have bounced checks to me and I was wondering how I would go about reporting them to the credit agencies (equifax, etc.). I've followed all the California laws in regards to sending out letters and trying to get them to pay, but it's obvious that they have no intention of making good on their debt. Does any one have any experiance in this sort of thing?

Regard..

I have experience with people not paying, I think it's highly dependant on your relationship with the client. I keep all of my customers very close so if they do run into payment problems its more like not paying a friend so they are more inclined to pay me back. I suppose certain industries allow for relationships like this to be built.

I would advise you to bear with them and talking to them frankly, say if they are having problems making full payment you would be happy to have them transfer what they could afford every month. Passing them on to a debt agency would in my opinion increase the likely hood they will not pay.

Did you send the letters yourself? I ask because you can also use local debt recovery specialists who normally know exactly what sort of script pushes the buttons of non-payers. They can often be very cheap, as the collect the payment from the other end in the form of interest.
