| | how to improve my credit score by at least 100 points? I need to improve my credit score, it is currently really low at 104. i want to increase it to at least 200 so i can take mobile phone contracts out with bt [my employer] and close my current contracts used by me and my partner. Any quick way to do this? I am paying off £300 of my £1100 overdraft on Monday, would that help? I dont know if age makes a difference, but im 22.

| | How To Improve Credit Score Hi,
Turning bad credit into good credit is hard, but it can be done. The first step is to pay all your outstanding debt off, perhaps by consolidation or a payment plan you can stick to. Then you open a savings account and try to put money in every time you get some. A secured or prepaid card can (if paid properly and in a timely fashion) help you boost your score as well. |

| | Repairing your credit rating may not happen overnight. Before you start, get a score of your current credit rating and see the areas that you need to focus on. |

| | The first thing that you will need to do is to get a copy of your credit report. You can get a free copy once every 12 months so there's really no reason to have to pay for one. Now that you have the credit report it's time to check it for accuracy and make a note of anything that's not accurate, because you will need to dispute this later on.
If you've paid a bill and it's still showing up on your credit report then contact the original creditor and see if they will have it removed from your credit report, many times this is all it takes. And you don't have to pay a credit repair agency to get it done. |

| | First things first, no matter how bad your credit score really is, there is always something you can do on your own to make it better, and you can make these changes on your own. There are a lot of companies out there that offer help in this area, but anything legal they offer to do for you, you can do yourself. Not only can you save yourself the fees these companies will charge you, you can take personal control of your financial destiny! Just keep in mind that it will take some time, rebuilding your credit rating is something that doesn't happen overnight. |

| | Having too many credit cards does not look good to the reporting agencies and they will lower your score because of it. If you have 5 or more credit cards, but only use 2, your FICO score will take a hit. With the nearly universal acceptance of both Mastercard and Visa, these are really the only 2 cards you need to carry. |

| | Hi,
Thanks for sharing the information on improving the credit score.
Be careful of how many times your credit report gets checked out. The fewer times the better. So do not apply for many credits in a short time frame. It will hurt your score. Also try to remember that when you apply for a job your credit will many times be checked out so lay off those small credits. |
