Default If I am a small business, can I claim back VAT in the UK?

I have just opened up a company in the UK. Do I have to pay VAT? How do I get it back? What do I need to do to ensure I do it properly

Yes, you have to pay VAT. You can reclaim the VAT if you are registered for VAT, and therefore must charge VAT. You have to do this if you have turnover in excess of £61,000 pa.

See the HMRC website for further info or if you are in any doubt or would like further help you can ring the Customs and Excise National Advice Service on 0845 010 9000.

Good luck with the new business!!
